Overall Satisfaction with Catchpoint

We use Catchpoint as a tool for application monitoring; specifically, it is used for liveness, API, and UI Monitoring. It makes a great addition to our suite of monitoring tools and is integrated into our alerting stack with Catchpoint and pager duty.

Pros

  • Uptime monitoring for full stack applications.
  • API monitoring for uptime.
  • API response monitoring.

Cons

  • Usability for new users.
  • Training
  • Fewer Outages.
  • Lower Mean Time To Resolve.
Catchpoint has a moderate learning curve as each monitor needs to be manually configured, and each application needs to be configured and monitored separately. Once that was done, we were able to improve our performance.
I have never worked directly with Catchpoints' customer service, so I can't comment.
Catchpoint doesn't have a feature set that is as full but can provide many similar features for much less.

Do you think Catchpoint delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Catchpoint's feature set?

Yes

Did Catchpoint live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Catchpoint go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Catchpoint again?

Yes

Catchpoint is a great tool when all you are looking for is a simple tool for liveness and readiness monitoring. More advanced APM tools often charge very high prices in these areas.
