Overall Satisfaction with Jira Software
Jira [Software] is used by delivery teams mostly for backlog management in an SAP context. Developers and analysts can manage and follow-up on their workload by assigning colleagues, adding extra information and entering times. This helps streamline overall projects effort and document everything from A to Z for traceability purpose. Basic customizing was sufficient for us (custom fields, some rules, etc.), but Jira [Software] definitely provides near-infinite possibilities when it comes to making it your own.
Pros
- Out-of-the-box backlog management with Kanban board
- Easy and intuitive customizing for basic requirements
- Huge community and marketplace extensions availability
Cons
- Confusing set of products to setup a full suite (Jira to Confluence to Service Desk, etc.)
- Advanced requirements call for an expert
- Moving to pure-Cloud in the near-future
- Simplicity, performance and time-to-value
- Community and customer support
- Well-price for the number of scenarios supported
- Almost immediate adoption by the delivery teams
- Knowledge base is updated a lot more often (via Confluence)
- Much better visibility on project workload and progress
Jira [Sofware] being the market leader, it is a lot easier to sell internally when it comes to the core product (backlog management). The additional scenarios that are supported, such as service ticketing and knowledge base management, can also be added whenever you feel ready with little change management and disruption. However the performance was a bit disappointing when compared to direct competitors, with Jira [Software] taking its time to load heavy kanban boards.
