Overall Satisfaction with Control-M

We use Control-M to do file watch management and trigger jobs on our custom application based off complex calendars and then have the application report back to Control-M when it completes a job. Sometimes the jobs can be purely calendar-based to accomplish a centralized job management system to execute jobs on multiple systems.

Pros

  • Execution of jobs
  • Custom job types
  • Complex calendar management
  • Flexibility in setting up jobs be repetitive

Cons

  • When setting up new jobs some of the fields for triggers aren't as clear as they could be just looking at them in the UI
  • Flexibility with integrating with multiple system types and applications
7 - We have QA, engineering, and operations using Control-M
After watching people use it for a little bit, I was able to understand how things were structured and what to do to set up my own jobs and navigate around.
Control-M has a lot more features within it. Also, the structure is more visual than active batch and it's easier to navigate around

Our use of Control-M is very limited right now and the more people that we get to use it would help encourage more ideas of how we can use it better for what we currently have
