Overall Satisfaction with Control-M
We use Control-M to automate tasks on a schedule. This product has given us a central place to monitor jobs visually instead of going to each server to monitor Windows Scheduled tasks. This also lets non-admins run jobs as a self-service as well as be able to load balance tasks and Control-M servers.
Pros
- Schedule the execution of executables daily
- Easily gives an output of the job that has run
- Sends email notifications
Cons
- 24/7 cyclic jobs should kill itself before new day so we don’t have remnants of the job staying in the monitoring window
- Be able to actually kill a job from the GUI instead of going into the Linux server to kill the process manually
- No ROI that I can see
- Services are able to run more efficiently because we get notified when a task has failed and we can immediately react or set up automatic "self-healing" jobs
20 - Application administration and monitoring, developers, and finance teams. Developers can now also monitor the jobs and see when jobs have failed and non-admins can run jobs on their own with the self-service product.
Control-M is very easy to use and it is easy to visually see how tasks are performing. Having the logs in one place when a task fails makes troubleshooting easier.
