Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We purchased this product to:

- Reduce time to market.

- Improve business process agility.

- Improve business process outcomes.

- Drive innovation.

- Create internal/operational efficiencies.

Pros

  • Ease of system use
  • All-you-can eat model
  • Good support and consultancy

Cons

  • There is a disconnect between resource utilisation displayed on the dashboard and what it actually is, that can be improved.

Likelihood to Recommend

SnapLogic has worked really well for us because it has offered complete flexibility to integrate against a diverse systems landscape. As we opted for the fully managed option (with Cloudplexes) it was easy to set up and maintain. It is also relatively easy to use resulting in low barrier to entry for new users - my team of data engineers was able to start up and delivery quickly.

SnapLogic has enabled us to integrate systems

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We built data integration pipelines from S3 to Redshift, DynamoDB to Redshift, MSSQL AWS RDS to Redshift, as well as SQS queue systems. Generally, these were Change Data Capture solutions. In other work, we also moved data from Redshift to external services like sales, HR, and operational systems: Salesforce, SAP, Acqeon, etc. SnapLogic has helped our organization centralize and consolidate our data in a unified way under a single framework.

Pros

  • Extract transform load
  • AWS service integration
  • ETL development environment

Cons

  • Git integration outside of Github (Bitbucket, and other git service providers)
  • I would like to see an improved way to perform unit testing within the SnapLogic framework, as opposed to the manual approach
  • I would prefer that the underlying source of SnapLogic pipelines be more human-readable, although it is a GUI approach to authoring pipelines

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for incrementally moving data between systems. As for the movement of big data, SnapLogic expects you to delegate this to EMR or some sort of external spark executor, this should be kept in mind for the ETL of large amounts of data; however, working database tables works just fine.

Snaplogic has an intuitive jigsaw puzzle design paradigm to building data integration pipelines

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Snaplogic is the core product that we use to move data from various sources, whether on-premise or in the cloud, to our data lake in Snowflake. Its use is expanding company-wide from engineering to finance and sales operations. This can be attributed to Snaplogic's graphical user interface which uses a jigsaw puzzle metaphor and makes the product accessible to business users as well as engineers. Snaplogic provides the monitoring and logging tools that allow us to track all data movement in one central location. A major selling point that distinguishes Snaplogic from many competitors is the availability of an on-premise node called a Groundplex as well as a cloud-based node called a Cloudplex. This hybrid configuration precludes the need to punch holes in the firewall and keeps sensitive data inside.

Pros

  • Has an on-premise solution named Groundplex to access sensitive internal data as well as a cloud solution named Cloudplex for external data? And you can use both Groundplex and Cloudplex for a completely secure solution for sensitive data.
  • The GUI based Designer uses an intuitive jigsaw puzzle metaphor.
  • Has a wide selection of connectors to a variety data sources ranging from an Oracle database to a web destinations using a REST API.

Cons

  • Has own version system, but no support for de facto git repositories.
  • Has XML support, but does not support XML mixed content.
  • Has support for Data Science with several ML snap packs, but computation power is inherently limited on Snaplogic nodes. To handle large data sets, computing needs to be elastic and thus ML is more suited for other systems.

Likelihood to Recommend

Snaplogic is unique from other IPASS tools if you're very sensitive about data security as they have an on-premise option where your data never needs to leave your data center. And data pipelines can be quickly created if Snaplogic has the requisite connector to your data sources. On the downside, if you're transforming a large amount of data for example in training machine learning models, a tool with elastic compute capability is more appropriate.

An excellent low/no code solution

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

RedEye leverages SnapLogics technology to help streamline our workloads. Our engineers can rapidly prototype bespoke client integrations, this saves us crucial development and increases our speed of delivery.

Pros

  • Simple and easy to use interface.
  • Lots of integrations out of the box (snap packs).
  • On hand technical support.

Cons

  • Additional snap packs especially around social elements, Google, Twitter, etc.
  • Examples of best practice such as debug techniques, dealing with parallelisation.
  • Live support.

Likelihood to Recommend

As a configuration as a code tool, SnapLogic stands up very well in this space. It has plentiful integrations and generic ones which allow you to bridge the gap when you find there isn't a handcrafted pack already available, in essence, there's always a way to achieve what you're trying to do.

Data Integrations made easy

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SnapLogic as the firm's main data integration platform, with all the main systems connected to each other via SnapLogic. We had various types of data sources within our organization (files stored on networks, SQL databases, APIs) which needed to be centralized and exposed to other consumer applications and SnapLogic was the solution that made this possible in a very robust and flexible way. A truly iPaaS product, SnapLogic allows us to connect data endpoints with ease, in a very logical and functional way.

Pros

  • Connects various type of data sources to destination endpoints.
  • Easy to use, no heavy coding required.
  • Good overall monitoring of integrations via centralized Dashboard view.
  • Constantly updated and improved over a reasonable time frame.

Cons

  • Error handling and documentation around it should be more specific and in depth.
  • Some reported features that need fix/improvement are not brought fast enough in the product's general upgrade cycle.

Likelihood to Recommend

SnapLogic is suitable for environments where the data sources are of mixed type (SQL, File, API) and you need fast and easy integration between systems using those data sources. SnapLogic is not suitable when dealing with very complex and specific data transformations where a lot of coding is required. Their scripting functionality is limited.

Great iPaaS even for those with little experience in Data Integration

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SnapLogic is used in our organization to integrate Product Master Data with various systems and with a Kafka implementation in between. The biggest problem solved by SnapLogic is the ability to put many different endpoints speaking to each other with the correct format of the data and on a Streaming basis instead of a Batch basis.

Pros

  • The ease of development and analysis of integration processes thanks to the heavily visual user interface.
  • The ability to see the integrated documents step by step between the Snaps.
  • The integrated dashboard capabilities.

Cons

  • The inability to predict how much processing power one will need before purchase.
  • Log file viewing and analysis not very linear in my opinion.
  • How to guides are scarce and could explore Snaps' configuration more deeply.

Likelihood to Recommend

For an environment with many different endpoints, some on-prem and some on the cloud, SnapLogic really helps in bringing all of them together and integrating their data. It also behaves well with large volumes of data and can be a great addition to a Streaming Platform such as Kafka. Perhaps not so appropriate for small scope use-cases.

SnapLogic the solution you won't be able to leave once you try it

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SnapLogic for data process and management. It is a key piece of software to integrate third-party software between each other and/or into our homebuilt software.

Pros

  • SnapLogic has great built in tools.
  • SnapLogic has a great ease of use.
  • SnapLogic manages data quickly and secure.

Cons

  • SnapLogic UI is not always the most intuitive.

Likelihood to Recommend

We have tried other tools and no one is as good as snapLogic. It is easy to understand and to use. And it does very well, what it is supposed to do. When you get into more edge cases it can be a little bit frustrating. But even in those cases, support is great and it will give you all to fix your issue.

SnapTastic!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Snaplogic was brought in during our migration from Oracle Ebiz on Prem to Oracle HCM cloud. During that same time, we also implemented Okta with custom IDM hooks to both Oracle HCM and Ellucian Banner. We had a spaghetti integration structure, integrations all over the place and not well monitored. We have since implemented Snaplogic and are now seeing significant ROI on our integrations as well as begun to develop in-house APIs for use across the campus. We are looking to expand the platform into Data Warehousing in the coming year or two.

Pros

  • Pricing.
  • Support and Customer Follow-up.
  • Almost limitless integration ability.

Cons

  • UI, little hard to learn.
  • Training.
  • User conference.

Likelihood to Recommend

Snaplogic has the BEST pricing model in the industry. There are no excessive "end-point" pricing or # of API call-only pricing models. They allow for on-premise hosting of their Nodes, which gives us the flexibility t expand endpoints and API calls without massive budget overruns. They listen to their customers and meet with us monthly to go over release notes AND ask for feedback/issues/tickets we have faced in the last month to address them. I've never seen another vendor do this in my 25 years of IT. The Snaplogic UI has a steep learning curve and its UI isn't the best. It's not as easy as say a Tray.io or Zapier but it is much more fully-featured. Snaplogic realized their gap and has since released Snaplogic Flows (Zapier, point, and click) integrations.

Pros

  • Easy tool to build the pipelines
  • Great error monitoring capabilities

Cons

  • Updated UI
  • Readily available documents to support our Risk and Compliance Team
